Luke Rennie, a lifelong surfer with over 30 years of experience, has developed the Train to Shred program to help surfers stay wave-ready even from landlocked places like Switzerland. Using surf skates, you'll focus on essential skills such as balance, rail-to-rail transitions, and body positioning, ensuring you maximise your time in the water and build the confidence you need to excel on the waves.

Stay Connected to the Waves

Living away from the ocean can challenge surfers who want to stay in peak surfing shape and feel wave ready. Having moved to Switzerland from Australia, Luke understands the frustration of limited surfing time. He has tailored the Train to Shred program to help surfers maximise every session in the water – using surf skates as the ultimate training tool. By training on land with a surf skate, you’ll work on key surfing skills such as balance and stability, rail-to-rail transitions, bottom and top turns, body positioning, weight transfer, speed generation and pumping so you’re fully prepared when you hit the ocean.

A Lifelong Surfer

With over 30 years of surfing experience, Luke brings a deep passion and knowledge of the sport to the Train to Shred program. Growing up in Australia, he was immersed in the surf culture and developed a keen understanding and feel for positioning and reading the ocean. This deep knowledge and muscle memory has allowed him to excel on the wave face.

Since moving to Switzerland, Luke has adapted his training methods to maintain peak performance despite the distance from the ocean. As a Personal Trainer he combines his expertise with his surfing knowledge to create a comprehensive training experience.

Luke’s coaching approach ensures that you not only refine your surfing techniques, but also build the confidence you need to maximise your performance when you’re back in the water.

Small Groups, Big Results

Sessions are held in small groups of up to five people, ensuring individual attention and a supportive environment for all. For those who prefer one-on-one coaching or need to get started straight away, simply book a Personal Training session, and let Luke know you want to focus on improving your surfing skills.

What to Bring

To ensure you have the best experience during your surf skate sessions, please bring the following items with you:

  • Helmet: Safety is key, so wearing a helmet is recommended.
  • Elbow and/or knee pads: If you feel more comfortable wearing protective gear, please bring your elbow and knee pads.
  • Water bottle: Staying hydrated is important, so bring a water bottle filled with water.
  • Your own surf skate: If you have your own surf skate, feel free to bring it with you! If not, don’t worry – SmoothStar Surf Skates are provided by Surfari for your convenience.

Being prepared with the right equipment will help you get the most out of your training sessions!
